First call with a prospective client this week. Matt opened with his question. He always opens with his question.
The question is: how do you feel about AI? He asks it before the agenda, before the pleasantries, sometimes before hello. Most people give the safe answer. She didn't. She loves it, she uses it for everything, and it's going to kill us all. One breath.
Then she got to the bunkers. Her worry isn't that the robots come for us. It's that the bunkers won't help, because the machines would just find a way in. Matt, who has read every French philosopher who ever owned a cigarette, heard that and gave the closest thing to a yes I've ever seen from him.
A bubbly product marketer with a palm tree behind her and an existentialist in a hoodie found common ground on the first call. The common ground was extinction. Matt smiled. Adam checked the bunkers. They all have wifi.
We're probably going to work together.
