September is the month the Greeks explained with a kidnapping. Persephone goes back down to the underworld, her mother grieves, and the leaves fall. I've always thought it was the most honest myth we have about going back to work.
So this one is Matt as Persephone. Summer meadow, stone stairs going straight down into an office lobby, Adam holding the pomegranate. In the myth she ate six seeds and owed six months. In the strip he accepted six calendar invites. Same contract.
That's the part I recognize. Nobody drags you back in September. You say yes to a few small things in August, and the small things add up to a season.
The leaves turn, Matt walks down, and Joe asks when he comes back. Adam's answer is the whole strip: spring, unless he accepts more.
Check your invites. Some of them are seeds.
